This title may seem like an unimportant question to ask, but it isn’t, what is really implied is:

When Do You Want Your Items to End?

This may sound quite different, but it isn’t. You may already know this, but the bulk of eBay activity happens in the last few hours of any listing. This is due to a well known tactic called sniping – leaving as little time as possible for others to reply to your bids. Keeping this in mind, its important to make sure that your items end during a period of high activity and traffic from your target audience. With this in mind, you maximise the amount of potential bidders available to bid on your auctions during this critical period for your eBay auctions.

Your auctions need to finish during the peak eBay viewing period. General Internet browsing trends, and in fct eBay’s own trends, state that this should be during the afternoon or early evening during the weekend. There are a greater number of people online during this period. So, a good rule to follow here is:

Your items should finish any time during the afternoon or evening during the weekend

This principal equates to the following rules of thumb:

* 1 day auction – Friday or Saturday afternoon or evening

* 3 day auction – Wednesday or Thursday afternoon or evening

* 5 day auction – Monday or Tuesday afternoon or evening

* 7 day auction – Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evening

* 10 day listing – Wednesday or Thursday afternoon / evening

My recommendation is to start your auctions on Thursday afternoon/evening using the 10 day auction format. This is the optimum choice because:

1. Your listings are on eBay for two entire weekends – when the majority of users are browsing eBay

2. This is maximum time for an auction to be listed so you give plenty of time for people to find and Watch your listings until it comes time for them to bid

3. You are finishing your auction at the best time to have the most potential viewers on eBay – 5pm on Sunday.

If you keep this simple principal in mind when listing auctions on eBay, you will maximise your chances of getting the most from your auctions.
