Donna asks…

how do you charge postage on books in ebay?

ebay have stopped allowing you to charge postage for books you sell on ebay is there any way around it so you can charge postage? this free postage is killing me

admin answers:

You can charge any price for postage just set up in the beginning as one rate to customer and charge what you believe is the shipping rate and your fees for going to the post office. Most Ebay users charge extra for shipping since Ebay doesn’t take a fee from shipping rates.

Make sure to also use book rates for mailing since it cheaper. Good luck!

Mandy asks…

what kinds of books should I sell on line?

I live near used book stores and have a computer, but the books on amazon and ebay seem to sell for only pennies. How can I make a small amount of money (i.e., pocket money not a full-blown income) selling used books online?
I’m not to such also how to advertise to colleges that I buy books. I’m pretty new to all this and am a little unsure how to proceed. thanks!

admin answers:

text books sell really well, if you live near a college, offer to buy the books from the students for more then the bookstore will pay if they keep them in good condition.

generally up to date computer books, certain sci-fi books like star wars, romance novels, engineering books, when selling on amazon, research the prices people are asking for books, if it only sells for one cent, don’t despair, those guys make their money back with inflated shipping/handling.

Steven asks…

How to ship books cheaply?

I am selling books on ebay and the last time I sold a book, it ended up costing me $8 to ship because of the weight, and it wasn’t even that heavy of a book. How can I ship books for under $2 – $3?

admin answers:

I’d suggest you use Media Mail for shipping books as normal mail rates will cost more. You may want to inform your customers that you will be using Media Mail and that it will save them some $ but take a bit longer to arrive.

George asks…

How should I sell my books?

I have around 1000 books i am looking to sell of all different genres. (Romance, Fantasy, Horror, Historical, Alt. Religion Ect.) I was wondering which way would be the easiest yet most profitable way to sell them, such as garage sale / flea market / eBay / craigslist? Also what would be a good base price for the different ways of selling them. Like if i sale them at the flea market $0.25 but on eBay sell the the same book for $1.00?

admin answers:

Don’t you have to pay a fee to sell in a flea market? You also have to pay to sell on eBay. No one I know has a Craigslist account so I don’t know how that works. A garage sell would be the cheapest way to get rid of them besides giving them away.
