Selling art you create-has anyone tried ebay or selling locally?
I do folksy art in acrylic on wood and rocks. Mostly flowers and horses, custom signs, usually 13″ by 9″ or so. I make some little signs, like 4 by 5 inch signs with catchy sayings, like Where are we going and what’s with this handbasket?
I was just wondering if people had more luck investing in running a website, or just dealing with ebay and paypal?

I do custom engravings on glass and metal, or anyting else u know, but Yeah I was amazed how easy it was to sell things via ebay and especially locally.
ON ebay, its pretty straight forward. You can have your item as a stand alone, unique, piece, and or have custom orders come up, but those are kinda hard to manipulate given the unscrupulous nature of some people…. this really depends on time and seriousness displayed by the buyer though.
On the local market, I used to get with local vendors of similar style artwork- in my case – low rider art and therefore, i used to hit up all the detail shops, customizing shops, paint shops, etc… then i would think about trade shows or flee markets (aka, bazaars) and stuff to attend to sell things. It helps if you have a significant other and/or friends to help you initially, although be forewarned about monetary dealings.

if you have art work that youve done urself is it a good idea or bad idea to sell on ebay?

if u are trying to raise money it is an excellent idea. But be careful of scammers.

Maybe, art might be awkward to ship because many times it’s abstract. But you can try.
