Would selling art on Ebay be a good way to make money?
My question is/questions are as followed:
Is it a good idea to sell art on E-bay?
I see all these ridiculously high priced paintings in the art section, I don’t want to set my aim that high, but just probably around less-than-a-third of what the other works are priced on and get my style known.
But seriously, do people even buy the artworks placed at +1,000,000 US dollars?

admin answers:
I wonder the exact same. I’ve seen pictures on eBay that not only look vaguely familiar of work I’ve seen before (how original?) but sometimes the art just doesn’t seem to be worth the price. Even some of the pieces I see up there are kind of lacking in my opinion, so it just kind of throws a curve on me. But if you’re really looking to test the waters on eBay, I think you should; if that doesn’t work, there’s always freelance commissioning.

Is selling art on ebay worth it,an how does ebay work?
i want to sell my art on ebay but i don’t know how ebay works an is it worth it.

I do a bit of selling there. It is worth it depending on how much you charge for your work (don’t sell yourself short). Things to remember are the insertion fee, final value fee, and the paypal fee. You can get an ebay store (the cheapest is like 15.95/mo) and the ebay fees will go down (not the paypal one). This is worth it if you sell a lot and have a lot of work/art prints to sell, but if you don’t I wouldn’t do the store thing.
Fees vary…currently my fixed price listings are about $0.35 each for 30 days, with the final value fee being around $2.60 for a $20 item. Paypal fee for something at that price I think is around a dollar, but don’t quote me on that. I say it’s definitely worth a try on ebay because the worst that could happen is you have to pay a little if your item doesn’t sell. Also, just an fyi, if you want a decent looking auction listing check out http://www.robshelp.com for free html editing. This is especially good if ebay charges for extra pics (sometimes all pics are free, but sometimes only the first one). If you use html in your listing you can get extra pics for free. I would suggest trying ebay out with a few auctions or fixed price listings (like if you sell art prints and such). If you don’t like it, you can stop because it’s not like you pay for a subscription unless you get an ebay store. Hope this helps!!

Ruth asks…
Selling art illustrations on EBay…..how is it done? What are the procedures? How does one get qualified?
I am a fashion illustrator. I offer illustration services for companies, big and small, who require employees to wear office uniforms. Now, my small shop is filled with boxes and boxes of illustrations of office uniforms. Are there businesses or people who buy uniform illustrations? If yes, can I sell these on EBay? Help…..anyone?

admin answers:
you don’t need any qualifications to sell on eBay– just set up an account (it could be under your business name, or you could be a private seller). there are categories for virtually everything, and art and illustrations are sold there. so, probably the best category for your illustrations would be: “Art > Drawings > Contemporary (1950-Now)”
i’m sure you will find buyers there. they might be businesses, or just private collectors of fine art/illustration. btw, you can even sell in lots, if you want to sell a boxful at one time.
