You might need to relist a few times before it sells.

I want to sell some books on ebay…what should I charge for shipping?
I have about 17 books that I want to get rid of. 2 are college textbooks (about 600 pages each), 4 are hard cover books (around 300 pages) and 11 are paperback books (about 250-300 pages). I have no clue how much I should charge for shipping. Esspecially for ebay users, how do you estimate a shipping price without taking the books to the post office first? I don’t want to charge too much or too little. Thanks.

Media rate is the cheapest way to ship books. You are better off overcharging a little to pay for the mailer, labels, and adminstrative expense. I would think you’re fine with $3.95 flat shipping or just charge actual rate once the book sells. If you overcharge, you might be able to buy a scale for future sales.

Do amateur books sell well on ebay?
My mom just wrote a book and it’s now published and ready to sell. How well do beginner author’s books sell on ebay? Any suggestings on marketing and advertising the book? It’s a spiritual book.

eBay is as good a spot as any for selling books. The great thing about eBay is the price is always set by the market so you will get a fair price. You can always do a Buy It Now option to set your own price to see if it sells. Another option is going to a place like Half Price Books and selling them the books new and maybe getting some free shelf space to have them displayed.
Getting a good review from a well known critic is one of the best advertisements you can get. Try sending copies to all of the big newspaper and magazines in the area to see if someone will pick it up.
Book readings are always fun too. You could probably get a good crowd at your local church or bookstore.
The main thing you have to do is get the book in as many places as you can and let people know it’s there. If people know it’s a good book that helps too.

people that sell books for a penny on ebay/amazon etc. how the hell do they make a profit?
I am trying to sell some of my old text books on ebay/amazon. I have noticed that some sellers are selling books for as little as penny. I can understand on ebay, they can bump up the postage, or people posting parcels at work and not declaring it,but on amazon the postage is £2.75 regardless of the weight of the book. some text books cost £4-5 to post, I have seen some sellers sell these text books for a penny . how the hell are they making profit? I should add that most of these are book sellers and not individuals

Maybe they need to get rid of them and then write them off as a tax loss…either way they don’t lose anything.

I already have an account on ebay. I buy items but I don’t know how to sell items/college books. I would like to know what I have to do and how to start. I really want to sell my college books (extra cash for fall classes) but also selling just about anything would also work! Thanks!
